For a limited time, Seattle City Light is providing a one-time $200 WA Clean Energy Credit to income-qualified residential customers through the Washington State Climate Commitment Act.

Who qualifies for the credit?

The WA Clean Energy Credit is available to income-qualified individuals; families (with or without children); and households with multiple, unrelated renters. It is limited to one per customer account. City Light residential customers qualify if their total pre-tax household income in 2023 was at or below:  
  • 1 person: $77,700
  • 2 people: $88,800
  • 3 people: $99,900
  • 4 people: $110,950
  • 5 people: $119,850
  • 6 people: $128,750
  • 7 people: $137,600
  • 8 people: $146,500
City Light will automatically apply the credit to customer accounts that have received energy assistance or another income-qualified program. Customers who automatically receive the credit will receive a text to confirm they are qualified to receive the credit. They will also receive a notice that they were approved if they try to apply for the credit. We may adjust qualifications or increase the income limits based on funding availability. 

How to apply:

It’s fast and easy to apply, and you do not need to submit any paperwork! To complete the application, you need to know:
  1. Your electric utility provider (Seattle City Light)
  2. Your Seattle City Light account number*
  3. The ZIP code of your billing address
  4. The county your household is located in (King County)
  5. The number of people in your household
  6. Your total gross annual household income for last year (2023)
Please note: You do not need to provide a social security number (SSN) or banking information as part of the application. 

*Need help finding your account number? You can find it on your Seattle City Light bill, on the Utility Services Website, or by calling the Customer Service Center at (206) 684-3000. (Interpretation services are available for free.)

You will receive confirmation of your application status, and, if approved, notification when the funds are applied to your account. Customers will also receive notification if the credit is automatically applied to their account.

The Washington Families Clean Energy Credits Program is supported with funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act.
